PHASE 1 – Direct Support
In our efforts to provide disaster relief and recovery support, Raíces Cultural Center gave special attention to projects, organizations, groups and individiauls working towards a sustainable, renewable, resilient and just recovery for the island of Puerto Rico post-Hurricane María. Phase 2 – Project Support
After our initial phase of direct relief to organizations, groups, farmers and individuals, we partnered up with the newly formed TaínaSoy Apiario Institute for Sustainability and Ecological Conservancy to develop and submit a grant proposal, and partner as a fiscal sponsor for TaínaSoy’s Save the PR Bee apiculture education program. TaínaSoy was one of the organizations our PR Relief donors helped to provide support for, and
they are also the home of Puerto Rico’s first Earthship!
We recently received news that we have been awarded the grant! This will help launch the Save the PR Bee program at TaínaSoy Apiario, supporting the purchase of basic beekeeping equipment including safety suits and beekeeping supplies for youth participants in this program.
